I'm catching Snook on 6 lb. test line using an ultralight spinning reel and rod. Every fish in this video was caught using live Pinfish as bait. Since I discovered this small canal bridge where there are a lot of Snook I've caught them on lures and live bait.
Here's a list of all the different ways I've caught them at this location that I named "The Popcorn Bridge":
1. DOA Shrimp
2. Yo-zuri minnow
3. Small paddle tail soft plastics
4. Live shrimp
5. Live Pinfish
I'm guessing that in about six trips to this small hot spot for night fishing that I've caught no less than thirty Snook. It's amazing how well these fish feed underneath this tiny creek bridge. There are three things that have contributed to this being such a great place to fish.
1. The water moves very swiftly through this area even on an eight hour tide
2. This is the time of year when this species of fish migrates into small canals like this one
3. There's a street light that shines over the bridge that creates a really nice dark shadow area on the water with an illuminated area out in front. This type of set up provides a great ambush location for Snook to hide.
I definitely figured out exactly where the best place was to cast the live Pinfish in order to get the Snook to hit them. I can't wait to go back there again with my ultralight tackle and catch these amazing fish again.
